A 40-year-old Texas man was killed in a collision near El Dorado High School
in El Paso. The man was driving his motorcycle near an intersection when
an SUV pulled out of the high school parking lot in front of him. The
motorcyclist collided with the SUV around 7:45 a.m. on Jan. 2.
Police reported that the force of the crash threw the motorcyclist off
his vehicle. He died at the scene from
severe injuries. The driver of the SUV was a 44-year-old woman. The initial investigation
revealed that the woman's failure to yield the right-of-way to the
motorcyclist resulted in the fatal incident. This has been identified
as the sole cause of the accident so far.
In situations like this one, when a person is killed suddenly in an car
accident, the survivors often want to know all the details of the investigation.
Seeking the representation of a lawyer may help them gain access to the
investigation reports. Depending on the circumstances, the official reports
might reveal that negligence was a factor in the death.
Distracted driving due to texting, for example, is a common occurrence linked to fatal accidents.
When examining the details of a case, an Austin personal injury lawyer
might be able to help those who were
injured in a car accident to determine if legal action is appropriate. If a negligent driver caused
a wrongful death, a civil case against the driver or their insurance company
might be taken to court. Damages that may potentially be awarded might
compensate survivors for funeral expenses and medical bills that resulted
from the accident.
