Posted By Stephen Stewart || 24-Nov-2014

A two-vehicle accident on a rural road in Texas has led to the death of a man from Portland and fire damage to both vehicles. Police reports indicate that the fatal collision happened before 3:30 a.m. on Nov. 15.

The 35-year-old man was driving south in a Cadillac on Farm-to-Market Road 136 when, just north of Bayside, he encountered a 33-year-old Brownsville man driving a truck north. The two vehicles collided head-on and were set ablaze.

The Cadillac driver sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene by emergency personnel. The driver of the truck survived the wreck and was transported to Christus Spohn Memorial Hospital for treatment. He claims that the car accident occurred as he drove around a curve on the road as it went over a hill. As he rounded the turn, he asserts that he found the Cadillac in his lane. He claims to have attempted to maneuver around the car but did not have enough time. The man is expected to have surgery on his ankle.

Individuals who have been hurt by the carelessness, negligence or illegal action of another party might be able to file a personal injury suit to recover compensation. Not only may the injured individual seek redress for medical bills and lost wages, but financial awards covering intangible losses such as companionship may be sought by their close relatives and those who depend on them. The representation of an attorney may be obtained for those who want helpful legal advice and assistance in any negotiations or appearances before the court.
