A car accident in northwestern Texas has caused the deaths of three men and the injury of a fourth. The crash took place at 8:33 a.m. on Dec. 6 on the east side of Andrews.

The car wreck involved three vehicles that were traveling on or near State Highway 176. The Department of Public Safety issued a statement alleging that a 32-year-old El Paso man was driving south on FM 1788 in a 2009 Jeep when he appears to have failed to heed a stop sign at the intersection with SH 176. As he crossed the highway, he ran into a westbound Ford F-150 pickup truck driven by a 43-year-old man from Big Springs. The accident happened directly in front of an eastbound tractor-trailer driven by a 47-year-old man from Andrews, which was unable to maneuver around the collision and struck both vehicles.

The accident proved fatal to the drivers of the two passenger vehicles and a minor from Big Spring who had been riding in the Ford. Even though they were wearing safety belts, all three were pronounced dead at the scene by a justice of the peace. The driver of the semi was transported to Texas-Permian Basin Regional Medical Center for treatment of his injuries. There were no other people reported to have been involved in the accident.

Any family that suffers the loss of a loved one in an accident that was not their fault may choose to file a lawsuit seeking financial redress from the person or people responsible. An Austin wrongful death attorney may be able to function as a resource to those looking into the possibility of filing a civil suit.
