Recall Affects Trader Joe's in 4 States

Posted By Stephen Stewart || 8-Dec-2013

People that shop at Trader Joe's in Austin, Texas, should be aware of a voluntary recall announced by Huxtable's Kitchen Inc. during the first week of December 2013. The four states affected by this defective products recall are Texas, California, Nevada and Utah. The recall is for a specific lot of Trader Joe's Butternut Squash & Creamed Spinach Gratin. This lot includes 3270 trays with the 'Use By 12/13/13" label.

These trays were recalled because the ingredients listed did not include milk or wheat. Several consumers face an increased allergen risk because of the faulty labeling. Some people that are severely allergic may have a life-threatening reaction after ingesting these ingredients. As of yet, there haven't been any illness or injury reported as a result of this faulty labeling. No other products in any other states are affected by the incorrect ingredient labeling.

Huxtable's Kitchen initiated the recall after Trader Joe's alerted them that there was corn product listed in the ingredients section, but the egg and wheat listings in that product were missing. Customers that purchased the Butternut Squash & Creamed Spinach Gratin in the affected regions may return the product for a complete refund. Customers that still have questions may contact Huxtable's Kitchen directly.

Local attorneys may be brought in to help someone who has suffered from deceptive labeling practices. An attorney may be able to assess the amount of negligence or liability a company may have for a defective product. Local legal counsel may also represent families that have lost a relative due to a defective product. Local attorneys may work together with the victim's physicians, care planners and rehab therapists in order to accurately gauge the appropriate compensation for the damages suffered in the incident.
